Ощущая в своей жизни дыхание нового времени, проживая дни в бесконечно меняющемся потоке окружающей действительности, мы не можем сбросить с себя оковы прошлого! Мы постоянно плачемся в жилетку электронным носителям о том, что смирение с пугающим настоящим подобно муке, ведь оглядываться назад куда приятнее, чем всматриваться в едва заметную даль будущего знамения. Мы топчемся на месте, увязая в искусственных границах, которые возвели себе сами. А кто-то просто может взять и перечеркнуть тянущийся за ним багаж вещей, открыв блокнот текущих дел с чистой, нетронутой страницы. Не важно, что скажут другие. Важно, что скажет сердце. Оно главное. И всегда было таким.

Девятнадцать лет прошло с того знакового момента, когда целый свет увидел "The Silent Enigma". Большой ли это срок? Немалый, на самом-то деле. Дети стали уже взрослыми, слушатели возмужали и окрепли духом, однако молва о том, что как было бы хорошо вернуть те славные деньки, не утихает ни на минуту, несмотря на то, что британский коллектив Anathema продолжает идти в другом, не менее интересном направлении. И в голове возникает извечный вопрос Герцена: кто виноват? Музыканты, которые, к превеликому сожалению, не перед кем не отчитываются и никому ничем не обязаны? Или старый преданный ценитель работы под номером два, у которого уже есть любимый альбом, но он хочет еще того же и как можно больше?

Извечная полемика, губительная и мучительная в своем поиске истины. Не проще ли просто смириться и радоваться тому, что имеешь? Будь то затертые до дыр "The Silent Enigma" и "Serenades" или же новый подарок от англичан "Distant Satellites".

Последний продолжает традиции предыдущих творений, таких как "Weather Systems" и "We're Here Because We're Here". Чистые и светлые тона утреннего осеннего зноя, который греет лишь неприкрытое тканью лицо, оставляя тело в холодных объятиях властвующего погодного сезона, вновь пропитывают красивую и искреннюю музыку, идущую из самых непогрешимых чертогов человеческой души. Завораживающий вокал Винсента усиливает впечатление от услышанного, добавляя новых красок в полотно, сотканного из звуков и нот Туманного Альбиона. Помимо одного из братьев Кэванах на представленной пластинке можно услышать и исполнение Ли Дуглас: ее приятный и милый голос не только успешно ведет диалог с Винсентом, но и выступает индивидуально, помогая вписать в сюжетную линию женское очарование и практичность.

And I felt myself going. I was in a great deal of pain. It was a very frightening experience I began to slip. I just started to feel myself going, and I remember trying to hold on “I'll be ok, I'll be ok” and it got to a point where I just couldn't.
And everything began to just become very quiet and I can remember with every ounce of strength I had, I wanted to say goodbye to my wife. It was important to me.
And I did, I remember just turning my head and looking at her and saying: “I'm gonna die” “Goodbye Joan”, and I did…
It was then that I experienced... experienced what we call a near death experience, for me there was nothing near about it, it was there.
It was a total immersion in light, brightness, warmth, peace, security.
I did not have an out-of-body-experience, I did not see my body or anyone about me… I just immediately went into this beautiful bright light.
It's difficult to describe, as a matter of fact it's impossible to describe, verbally it cannot be expressed, it’s something which becomes you and you become it.

One has to come to terms with one's own mortality. And you can't really help people who are having problems with mortality, if you've got problems of your own. So you have to begin to sort things out, and I thought I had sorted things out until I saw this excerpt from this book, of certainty I shall remember what it said: "Life is not the opposite of death. Death is the opposite of birth. Life is eternal." And I thought that it's the most profound words I have ever heard about that issue and it really put me in peace. [I felt it was a wonderful story.] And that's it. What else is there to say? Heh.
Life is eternal. Surely the opposite of life is not death, but life is eternal. There is no opposite.
And so, what happens is, I suppose, [and isn?t this a raging (or outrageous)] state of pure consciousness, stillness and silence? Yeah, what we are looking for now, we are searching for and we have been searching for, now we've become closer to it and now we know it's already there, is there for ever to seek, it's there, and it's going be there, all the time, forevermore.
