2 Так говорит Господь: не учитесь путям язычников и не страшитесь знамений небесных, которых язычники страшатся.
3 Ибо уставы народов - пустота: вырубают дерево в лесу, обделывают его руками плотника при помощи топора,
4 покрывают серебром и золотом, прикрепляют гвоздями и молотом, чтобы не шаталось.
5 Они - как обточенный столп, и не говорят; их носят, потому что ходить не могут. Не бойтесь их, ибо они не могут причинить зла, но и добра делать не в силах.
6 Нет подобного Тебе, Господи! Ты велик, и имя Твое велико могуществом.
7 Кто не убоится Тебя, Царь народов? ибо Тебе единому принадлежит это; потому что между всеми мудрецами народов и во всех царствах их нет подобного Тебе.
8 Все до одного они бессмысленны и глупы; пустое учение - это дерево.
9 Разбитое в листы серебро привезено из Фарсиса, золото - из Уфаза, дело художника и рук плавильщика; одежда на них - гиацинт и пурпур: все это - дело людей искусных.
10 А Господь Бог есть истина; Он есть Бог живый и Царь вечный. От гнева Его дрожит земля, и народы не могут выдержать негодования Его.
11 Так говорите им: боги, которые не сотворили неба и земли, исчезнут с земли и из-под небес.
12 Он сотворил землю силою Своею, утвердил вселенную мудростью Своею и разумом Своим распростер небеса.
13 По гласу Его шумят воды на небесах, и Он возводит облака от краев земли, творит молнии среди дождя и изводит ветер из хранилищ Своих.
14 Безумствует всякий человек в своем знании, срамит себя всякий плавильщик истуканом своим, ибо выплавленное им есть ложь, и нет в нем духа.
15 Это совершенная пустота, дело заблуждения; во время посещения их они исчезнут.
16 Не такова, как их, доля Иакова; ибо Бог его есть Творец всего, и Израиль есть жезл наследия Его; имя Его - Господь Саваоф.
17 Убирай с земли имущество твое, имеющая сидеть в осаде;
18 ибо так говорит Господь: вот, Я выброшу жителей сей земли на сей раз и загоню их в тесное место, чтобы схватили их.
19 Горе мне в моем сокрушении; мучительна рана моя, но я говорю сам в себе: "подлинно, это моя скорбь, и я буду нести ее;
20 шатер мой опустошен, и все веревки мои порваны; дети мои ушли от меня, и нет их: некому уже раскинуть шатра моего и развесить ковров моих,
21 ибо пастыри сделались бессмысленными и не искали Господа, а потому они и поступали безрассудно, и все стадо их рассеяно ".
22 Несется слух: вот он идет, и большой шум от страны северной, чтобы города Иудеи сделать пустынею, жилищем шакалов.
23 Знаю, Господи, что не в воле человека путь его, что не во власти идущего давать направление стопам своим.
24 Наказывай меня, Господи, но по правде, не во гневе Твоем, чтобы не умалить меня.
25 Излей ярость Твою на народы, которые не знают Тебя, и на племена, которые не призывают имени Твоего; ибо они съели Иакова, пожрали его и истребили его, и жилище его опустошили. 1 Hear the word which the Lord speaks unto you, the house of Israel.
2 Thus saith the Lord: Do not learn the ways of the Gentiles, and do not fear the signs of the heavens, which the Gentiles fear.
3 For the statutes of the nations are emptiness: they cut down a tree in the woods, cover it with the hands of a carpenter with an ax,
4 covered with silver and gold, attached with nails and a hammer, so as not to falter.
5 They are like a turned pillar, and they do not speak; they are worn because they cannot walk. Do not fear them, for they cannot do evil, but they cannot do good either.
6 There is no one like you, Lord! You are great, and your name is great in might.
7 Who is not afraid of You, King of the nations? for you alone belong to it; because between all the wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms there is no one like you.
8 One and all they are meaningless and stupid; empty teaching is a tree.
9 Silver, broken into sheets, was brought from Tarsis, gold — from Ufaz, the work of the artist and the hands of the smelter; the clothes on them are hyacinth and purple: all this is the work of skillful people.
10 But the Lord God is truth; He is the living God and the everlasting King. From His wrath the earth trembles, and the nations cannot endure His indignation.
11 So say unto them: Gods who have not made heaven and earth will disappear from the earth and from under the heavens.
12 He created the earth with His power, established the universe with His wisdom and with His mind stretched out the heavens.
13 According to His voice, the waters of heaven roar and He raises the clouds from the ends of the earth, creates lightning in the rain, and brings the wind out of His storehouses.
14 Every man is insane in his knowledge, every smelter is shamed himself with his image, for the smelted matter is a lie, and there is no spirit in it.
15 This is a perfect emptiness, a delusion; during their visit they will disappear.
16 Jacob’s share is not the same as them; for his God is the Creator of all, and Israel is the rod of His inheritance; His name is the Lord of hosts.
17 Remove your possessions from the earth, which have to be besieged;
18 For thus saith the Lord: Behold, I will cast out the inhabitants of the land this time, and will drive them into a narrow place, that they may seize them.
19 Woe is me, in my affliction; my wound is painful, but I say to myself: "genuinely, this is my sorrow, and I will bear it;
20 My tent is desolate, and all my cords are torn; my children are gone from me, and there are none: there is nobody to throw out my tent and hang my carpets,
21 For the shepherds became meaningless and did not seek the Lord, and therefore they acted foolishly, and their whole flock was scattered "&."
22 There is a rumor: here it comes, and a great uproar from the country of the north, to make the cities of Judea a desert, a dwelling of jackals.
23 I know, Lord, that his way is not in the will of man, that it is not in the power of him who goes to give direction to his footsteps.
24 Punish me, Lord, but in truth, not in your anger, so as not to belittle me.
25 Pour out thy wrath upon nations that do not know you, and upon nations that do not invoke thy name; for they have eaten Jacob, devoured him, and destroyed him, and laid down his habitation.
