Welcome back to Mega Nasty Rich we're talking about being more productive in your workday and people often ask me how can I start my work day and be more productive and I know you get a lot of tips out there on the internet saying get up rise and shine or or greet your optimal sleep time but I'm not gonna step and all that because I think everybody sleep time is different I know me personally if I don't get proper sleep getting up early all it's gonna do is slow things down the other thing no one accounts for in all these talks is that specially my the older men and why I run into a corporation shop early they want to talk so getting there early doesn't necessarily create productivity so I want to point out exactly what I think you can do to make yourself productive that doesn't include time and when you show up and what you need to do is conquer the biggest demon first yes I want you to focus on what is the worst thing that's going to bother you what's in the back your mind when you were laying down at home this morning that's bothered me the most don't wait on it concrete first once you conquered the biggest meanest problem that's facing you then the rest today you'll see will loosen up and get much easier and even if it isn't the biggest hardest problem it could be the thing that bothers you the most because even though you're doing another project in the back your mind that is bothering you I still at the address that you need to get that out of your way it frees up brain space it frees up mental space it allows you to focus the rest the day on things that need to get done and once you get that out of the way you can move forward now I'm gonna switch this little bit because if you're a salesman that's not always true with the sales and we need to talk about something different you do not need to start out on the hardest first instead you need to start on the easiest sells first Purcell's been completely different now why do you start on the easy when yourselves because sales is a process that talking it's a it's a process of talking and moving things. Forward and conquering as you go and it's different in that case because actually sitting down talking to a customer or any customer can actually open up your talking skills get you back in the swing of things get you move in and make it easier to make the next hardest call so what I would do is take on too easy calls before I took on the monster call because once you get back in the swing of things you'll find stepping up to the bad after a couple of pitches is much much easier to hit so things are different if you're not on the sell side start with the biggest monster first if you are a salesman wait start with the simplest then go to the next the simplest then move on to the one that worries you the sale you've got to make and it's also when it comes to sales the first thing you do is you go out there in the morning then you're selling a lot of times right off in the morning the people your call in probably don't want to hear you calling them anyway I know a lot of companies make you call first thing in the morning they used to make me back when they get up at like rise and shine and I don't I never understood because most of my clients were rise and shine and so they walk in the first thing they hear is my voice is not always the best thing for sale but the second thing is if your company makes you do that then wait on it wait you want to make sure its optimal time make sure that your client actually it's time to get there has time to get in the groove in sit down and as I said don't call on Mondays do not call on Mondays do not sell on Mondays it is the worst idea you should be golfing on Mondays but everybody else conquered the biggest monster conquered the biggest demand first conquer it and then you move on to a much productive day it does not matter the time of day you start this that you reach out and grab the biggest baddest and break it down comes a salesman everybody in the saleswomen and the sales people you know what go with the easy first and build momentum from there
